Coronado Island Realty rising star named National Association of Realtors 30 under 30 finalist!

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) recently published the names of the Finalists for the 2015 “30 Under 30” Award.  Each year they choose 30 realtors under the age of 30 to receive this prestigious award.  Kate Gillingham of Coronado Island Realty was listed amongst the 50 finalists.

With over 600 nominees, Kate was shocked to find out she was a finalist.  “One of my goals is to be named one of NAR’s 30 under 30, but since I’m 27, I certainly didn’t think I’d make the list of finalists.”

Kate began working for her family’s real estate brokerage, Coronado Island Realty, at a young age answering the phone for her dad, Dave Gillingham.  At age 18, she obtained her real estate salesperson license and became a full time agent in 2009 during her senior year at the University of San Diego.  In 2013, at the age of 25, Kate obtained her Real Estate Broker’s license.

The finalists are chosen by a panel of judges from the National Association of Realtors.  The criteria is not just sales numbers, though Kate did have her most successful year yet in 2014 with over $14,000,000 in sales.  The judges look for well rounded young professionals who give back to their community.

29 of the 30 winners are chosen by the judges, but 1 of the winners is a “people’s choice” winner.  The voting for the People’s Choice begins today at 10:00am, and ends Friday, March 27 at 10:00am Pacific Time.
