FAQ: I am looking to rent a house, should I expect a credit check?

Posted by: raindrop 8 years ago

Yes. Most landlords require a credit check as a part of the screening process for identifying a tenant.

What the landlord is looking for is your ability to pay the rent. Your actual credit score may or may not be what the landlord is looking at, and it may only be a part of the rental application process.

Here at Coronado Island Realty our rental application process includes an application, proof of income, a credit report, and references/rental history. Like most landlords, we weigh each of the items equally in determining if the applicant is a good match for our available rental.

Our initial experience with you, especially with your demonstrable expertise, knowledge, and willingness to both educate and work with us regarding the market and related considerations particular to Coronado, resulted in a gratifyingly helpful and positive experience for us.
