FAQ: What are QR Codes?

Have you seen these black and white boxes around town and have you wondered what they are?

These boxes are called Quick Response Codes, also known as QR Codes.  These codes are essentially barcodes that were first used in Japan at a Toyota factory to track parts in their warehouse.

To use a QR code, you need a QR code reader on a smart phone.  To get a QR code reader, simply go to your phone's app store or market and search for QR Code Reader.  There are many free options available.

Then, open the app and take a photo of the bar code.  As you will see, when you take a photo, your phone will automatically take you to your browser and to the URL that the QR Code was created for.

QR Codes are great options for making it easy for people to directly access the internet from a piece of paper.  We are implementing them into our business by creating the QR codes with URLs that go to our personal property websites and placing those codes on flyers.  Additionally, we are looking to create new signs that have the QR code to our homepage, so that people driving around town are able to quickly, and easily access the MLS from their phone.
