Friday Favorites: Romantic Weekenders
Posted by: kateg 1 year, 9 months ago
In honor of Valentine's Day next week, this week’s Friday Favorites is all about Romantic Weekenders near San Diego.
The Wilderness Weekend: Idyllwild
These days, undivided attention is so rare that a getaway off the grid is one of the most romantic ways to spend a weekend. This Idyllcreek A-Frame cabin is a little over a 2 hour drive from Coronado, but is worth the drive. The picturesque cabin is set in the San Jacinto mountains and is surrounded by tall pines, aromatic cedar trees, and incredible rocks. Whether you hole up all weekend reading, playing cards, and relaxing or hiking the mountains, a weekend in Idyllwild is the perfect way to reset.
Wine and Dine in Baja
Baja is a short 15 minute drive from Coronado, but is a world away. What better way to get off the grid than to head south of the border and wine and dine in the trendiest wine region in the world. Valle de Guadalupe is the Napa Valley of Baja and is filled with the expansive wineries, boutique hotels, and Michelin Star Chefs. We recommend staying at Encuentro Guadalupe or Cuatro Cuatros and definitely don’t miss Deckman’s Restaurant and Corazon de Tierra.
The Desert Detox
One of our favorite weekenders is to sneak away to the Desert. Whether you’re enjoying the Spas and Trendy restaurants in Palm Springs or Golfing the weekend away in La Quinta, relaxing in the desert oasis is time well spent! Spring is the perfect time of year to visit; the weather is warming up, the mountains glow against the sun, and cocktails by the pools are aplenty. No matter where you stay you can’t go wrong, so long as it has a pool and lounge chairs waiting! Photo Credit: @TheJunipero
The Staycation: Coronado Marisol
Obviously, getting away is a great way to unwind, but sometimes we forget that staying local is great as well. Coronado is beyond blessed to have the Coronado Marisol hotel, a boutique inn that has been incredibly remodeled and is right in the heart of Coronado. Whether you stay in and enjoy the serene garden or head into town to play tourist, a weekend at the Coronado Marisol is by far the most romantic activity in San Diego.
