Things to Do in Coronado This Fall: Your 2026 Guide to Local Events & Activities header image.

Fall might just be my favorite time of year in Coronado. The summer crowds have thinned, the weather is (usually) perfect, and some of the island's best community traditions are right around the corner.

From Halloween festivities and pumpkin patches to outdoor movies at the Hotel Del and neighborhood events, there's no shortage of things to do in Coronado in October and November.

As someone who grew up on the island and is now raising my own family here, I have a soft spot for this time of year. I've rounded up some of my favorite activities below, but if you want the full rundown, I've put together a 2026 Coronado Fall Guide with event dates, local traditions, seasonal activities, and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the island.

Coronado Fall Events You Won't Want to Miss

One of the best things about Coronado is how much our community embraces local traditions. October is especially busy, with everything from community fundraisers to family-friendly celebrations.

Taste of Coronado - October 7

A favorite local event, Taste of Coronado brings residents and visitors together for an evening of sampling food and drinks from participating Coronado restaurants. Organized by the Coronado Junior Women's Club, it's a fun way to experience the island's dining scene while supporting the community.

Village Elementary Harvest Hoedown — October 16

If you have elementary-aged kids, the Village Elementary PTO's Harvest Hoedown is one to put on your calendar. This annual fall celebration brings families together for an afternoon of seasonal fun and school spirit.

When: Friday, October 16, 2026, 4–7 PM.

Halloween Window Painting — October 24

One of Coronado's charming Halloween traditions gives local kids the opportunity to decorate storefront windows along Orange Avenue with their own Halloween artwork.

Organized by the Coronado Junior Women's Club, the event adds a little extra character to downtown Coronado leading up to Halloween.

Halloween in Coronado: Where to Trick-or-Treat

If you've never experienced Halloween in Coronado, you're missing out. Between the decorated homes, neighborhood traditions, and streets full of families, it's one of those nights that reminds you why living in a small community is so special.

A few places and traditions to know about:

  • Orange Avenue: Downtown businesses welcome trick-or-treaters in the late afternoon.

  • Margarita Avenue and the Golf Course neighborhood: Popular with older kids looking for a lively Halloween experience.

  • Balboa Avenue, also known as Candy Corn Lane: A favorite for younger trick-or-treaters and families.

Most residential trick-or-treating gets underway around 5:30 PM, although individual households set their own schedules.

Movies on the Beach at the Hotel Del Coronado

Few places do seasonal events quite like the iconic Hotel del Coronado.

The hotel's Movies on the Beach series combines a movie night with one of Coronado's most recognizable settings. The October and November lineup includes seasonal favorites and family classics.

Some highlights from the 2026 schedule include:

  • October 16: Beetlejuice

  • October 24: Hocus Pocus

  • October 30: The Nightmare Before Christmas

  • November 6: Hook

  • November 21: Elf

  • November 27: The Polar Express

Reservations and tickets are available through the Hotel del Coronado. Be sure to confirm availability and start times before heading over.

Pumpkin Patches Near Coronado

While Coronado doesn't have a traditional pumpkin farm of its own, there are several great options within driving distance.

Some favorites worth considering include the Carlsbad Strawberry Company's pumpkin patch, Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center, Oma's Family Farm in Lakeside, and the Goff Family Pumpkin Patch at Liberty Station.

Whether you're looking for a quick outing with little kids or a full afternoon of fall activities, there's something for everyone.

November Events and the Start of the Holiday Season

The fun doesn't stop when Halloween ends. November brings more opportunities to enjoy Coronado, from community gatherings and local fundraisers to seasonal programming at the Hotel Del.

It's also a wonderful time to explore the island on foot, enjoy our local restaurants, and take advantage of the quieter beaches before the holiday season picks up.

I'll continue updating my Fall Guide as additional November events and Thanksgiving dining details are announced.

A Little About Me

I'm a Coronado native, second-generation real estate broker, and mom of three. I've spent most of my life on this island, and while helping people buy and sell homes is my profession, sharing the little things that make Coronado special is something I genuinely enjoy.

If you're thinking about making Coronado home, or you're simply looking for a few new things to do around town, I hope this guide helps you enjoy one of my favorite seasons on the island.
